He was the first born of four children; Henry, Paula and Phebe. Henry and Phebe preceded him in death. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his family. He attended school in Cleveland and then his family was later moved to Philadelphia, in 1959, where he continued his education at Fitz Simon Gratz High. He completed the 10th grade and in 1963 was drafted into the United States Army, where he spent two years and was honorably discharged after a bad accident in 1965.

DARION was very adventurous and loved to travel whether by car or motorcycle or two wheel bike or walking. He enjoyed working on cars and was a great mechanic who offered excellent advice on cars. He also enjoyed setting up his sound systems in his home and most enjoyed going fishing. He taught his daughter how to fish at age 16 (5:30AM), and told her “ain’t no child of mine not gonna know how to bait a hook” then walked away… (They caught 13 fish that morning – and he caught a green catfish!!) Darion was a wiz at the pool hall where he was appropriately named “Fast Eddie”. He and his son DJ had their own ‘Woods’ trophy that they play for weekly.

DARION accepted Jesus Christ in his early 20’s and been in love with God ever since, telling anyone he could about the Love of Jesus. He met and married Letha May Ivy, of Mississippi and together they had his first child a son Darion Jr. Years later, after his divorce, Darion met Sandra White, of Philadelphia. She was definitely his Road partner in crime and together they had his second child a beautiful baby girl – Nicole.

DARION moved back to Ohio and worked as a custodian in the Cleveland school district. There he met and married the beautiful Elizabeth Rogers, who preceded him in death, leaving Darion widowed and a step father to Corey Rogers. Darion remained in the school district until his health began failing and he retired. Darion was determined to make it to age 100. He refused help from family because he wanted to do things for himself. When Darion was no longer able to care for himself, he reluctantly moved into the home with his son DJ and grandson Andrew, where he remained, under excellent care, until being hospitalized in September 2021. He flirted and fussed with the nurses during his last week and got in his last argument/debate with his daughter (who let him win this time). Two of his most favorite sayings were “Hey Man”, and “Bless God”. He will truly be missed.

DARION leaves to cherish his memories: Two children, Son Darion Woods Jr of Ohio, Daughter Nicole White of PA; Sister – Paula Woods of PA, Brother Henry Woods of PA, (deceased), Sister Phebe Rainey, of PA, deceased, (Banks); two grandchildren: Amber and Andrew Woods; two great-grandchildren: Faith and Antoine Weems; three nieces: Dawn Cuffee, Elizabeth and Heather Rainey; 2 Aunts, 7 Great Aunts and 1 Uncle – all preceded in death; numerous cousins and extended family and friends.

["GET
