He served in the U.S. Air Force in 1968 \u2013 1971. Charles married the love of his life Joanne White on January 12, 1972. They have 3 sons, Charles Jr., Micheal and Marcus. He worked at Ron\u2019s Auto Body Shop, Beckman Instrument, Storage Tek Technology Corp, and CHE Consultant.<\/p>\n<p>Charles loved to play golf with his friends and cousins. He loved to entertain his friends with parties at home. <\/p>\n<p>He is preceded in death by mother, Majorie Boykins and father, Ernest Screwes; stepfather, Savoy Smith Sr. and brother, Savoy Smith Jr. <\/p>\n<p>Charles left behind his wife, Joanne; sons, Charles Jr., Michael and Marcus; aunt, Juanita Stevenson; sisters, Jackie Scott and Yvonne Taylor; brother (on his father\u2019s side), Robert Lee Mays; sisters (on his father\u2019s side), Nyla Screwes, Rhonda Screwes and Flavia Sandoval Screws; grandchildren, Sidney Redden, Charles Screwes-Hamm, Marcus Alan Screwes Jr., Kaiden Michael-Anthony Terhume, and Myanna Aliyah Screwes; great grandchildren, Natalie Wiley, Carter Wiley, Kealynn Joanne Wiley, Brielle Rene Wiley, Kinsley Michelle Wiley and Coby Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Memorial service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 11:00 am at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd.
